SteelSight Safety Disclaimer

Introduction

This Safety Disclaimer is a legally binding agreement between you and SteelSight Systems. By using the SteelSight application ("App"), you acknowledge and agree to the following.

1. Reference Tool Only

SteelSight is a documentation, reference, and planning assistance tool. The App is designed to help crane operators, riggers, and lift directors with record-keeping, equipment reference, and measurement estimation. It is NOT a certified engineering tool, and its outputs do NOT constitute professional engineering advice.

2. AR Measurement Limitations

The App includes augmented reality (AR) measurement features, including but not limited to sling angle measurement, height clearance estimation, and pipe spool measurement. These AR features:

• Provide estimated measurements only and are subject to environmental and device-specific variability
• Depend on device sensor accuracy (accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS, barometer) which can be affected by temperature, magnetic interference, altitude, and device calibration
• May produce inaccurate results in poor lighting, reflective surfaces, extreme temperatures, or high-vibration environments
• Are NOT suitable as the sole basis for any critical lift planning, rigging, or safety decisions

You must always verify AR measurements independently using calibrated instruments before relying on them for any operational purpose.

3. Load Calculations — Reference Only

All load-related calculations provided by the App, including but not limited to:

• Wind load on load calculations
• Ground bearing pressure estimates
• Sling tension calculations
• Load weight estimates
• Geometry method calculations
• Crane utilization data

Are provided for reference and planning assistance only. These calculations:

• Are based on simplified models and user-provided inputs
• Do not account for all real-world variables (dynamic loads, wind gusts, ground variability, equipment wear, rigging geometry deviations, etc.)
• Are NOT a substitute for certified engineering calculations performed by a qualified professional engineer
• Must be verified against manufacturer load charts, engineering specifications, and site-specific conditions

4. Equipment Specifications — Reference Only

The rigging equipment libraries (synthetic slings, steel chokers, hoisting chains) display specifications that:

• Are sourced from general industry standards and user-provided data
• May not reflect the exact specifications of your specific equipment
• Do not account for equipment age, wear, damage, or environmental degradation
• Must be verified against the actual manufacturer's rated capacity tags and documentation for your specific equipment

Never exceed the rated capacity of any equipment based solely on information displayed in the App.

5. User Responsibility

By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are solely responsible for the safety of all lifting, rigging, and crane operations you perform or supervise
• You will independently verify all measurements, calculations, specifications, and data provided by the App before relying on them
• You will comply with all applicable safety regulations, including but not limited to: OSHA standards; ASME standards including B30 series; CSA standards including Z150 and Z248; applicable provincial and territorial occupational health and safety regulations; your employer's safety procedures and site-specific requirements; and equipment manufacturer's specifications and operating instructions
• You hold the necessary qualifications, certifications, and training to perform the operations you undertake
• You will use the App only as a supplementary reference tool, not as your primary source of safety-critical information

6. Photo and Documentation Limitations

Photos, lift logs, and other documentation created with the App:

• Are for personal and professional reference purposes only
• Do NOT constitute official inspection records, engineering documentation, or regulatory compliance records unless specifically accepted as such by your employer and applicable regulatory authorities
• May not meet the documentation requirements of your jurisdiction or industry standards
• Should be supplemented with proper documentation as required by your employer and applicable regulations

7. Weather Data Limitations

Weather information displayed in the App (current conditions, forecasts, wind speed, temperature):

• Is sourced from third-party providers and may not be accurate for your specific location
• Does not replace site-specific weather observations or certified meteorological data
• Should not be the sole basis for go/no-go lift decisions in weather-sensitive operations
• May be delayed, unavailable, or inaccurate, particularly in remote areas or during severe weather events

8. GPS and Survey Limitations

GPS-based range survey features, including live range check, site survey, and elevation measurement:

• Depend on device GPS accuracy, which varies based on satellite visibility, atmospheric conditions, and device hardware
• Provide estimated distances and elevations that may differ significantly from actual values
• Are NOT a substitute for professional land surveys or certified measurements
• Must be independently verified before being used for crane positioning or lift planning

9. Liability Waiver

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SteelSight Systems, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates shall not be liable for any:

• Injuries (including death)
• Property damage
• Economic losses
• Consequential, incidental, special, or punitive damages

Arising from or related to your use of the App, reliance on any information, measurement, calculation, or data provided by the App, or your failure to independently verify such information.

This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise) and regardless of whether SteelSight Systems has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SteelSight Systems and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or related to:

• Your use of the App in connection with any lifting, rigging, or construction operation
• Your reliance on any information, measurement, calculation, or specification provided by the App
• Any injury, death, or property damage that occurs during or as a result of operations in which the App was used
• Your failure to independently verify information provided by the App
• Your failure to comply with applicable safety regulations, standards, or procedures

11. Acknowledgment

By using the App, you expressly acknowledge that:

• You have read and understand this Safety Disclaimer
• You accept full responsibility for the safety of your operations
• You will not rely solely on the App for any safety-critical decision
• You understand that the App provides reference information only and is not a certified engineering tool
• You waive all claims against SteelSight Systems for any damages arising from your use of the App, to the maximum extent permitted by law

12. Governing Law

This Safety Disclaimer is governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
