SteelSight Systems ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application SteelSight Web ("the App").

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Password (encrypted)
  • Your name and role within your organization

Usage Data

When you use the App, we collect:

  • Dashboard configurations and preferences
  • User and role management records for your organization
  • Reports and exports you generate

SteelSight Web also displays operations, inspection, payroll, and safety data created by your organization's users in connected SteelSight Systems apps. That data is collected under the privacy policy of the app in which it was created.

Device Information

We automatically collect:

  • Browser type and operating system
  • Crash reports and performance data

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the SteelSight Web app
  • Sync your data across devices
  • Generate dashboards, analytics, and reports for your organization
  • Improve app performance and fix bugs
  • Respond to support requests
  • Send important service notifications

We do not:

  • Sell your personal information
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Share your company records with third parties without your consent

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard security measures:

  • Authentication: Powered by Supabase with encrypted credentials
  • Data Sync: Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Access Control: Company data is protected by row-level security so users see only their own organization's data

Data Sharing

We may share your information only in these circumstances:

  • With your consent: When you explicitly choose to share company records with other users
  • Service providers: Third-party services listed above, under strict data protection agreements

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data
  • Correct: Update inaccurate information via the app
  • Delete: Delete your account and associated data
  • Export: Export your company records
  • Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for optional data collection at any time

Canadian Privacy Rights (PIPEDA)

If you are located in Canada, you have additional rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including:

  • The right to know why your personal information is being collected
  • The right to expect your personal information to be used only for the purposes for which it was collected

Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Data is retained while your account is active
  • Deleted items: Soft-deleted items are permanently removed after 30 days
  • Account deletion: Upon account deletion, your data is removed within 30 days

Children's Privacy

SteelSight Web is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in Canada, the United States, and other countries where our service providers operate. For data transferred outside of Canada, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in compliance with PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation. We take reasonable steps to ensure your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
