SteelSafe Acceptable Use Policy
Introduction
This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") governs your conduct when using the SteelSafe mobile application ("App") provided by SteelSight Systems ("we," "our," or "us"). This Policy supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all users of the App.
By using the App, you agree to comply with this Policy. Violation may result in suspension or termination of your account.
1. Permitted Uses
The App is designed for professional use by construction workers, supervisors, and safety personnel. Permitted uses include:
- Creating and managing FLHA and JHA documentation for your work
- Recording toolbox talks and collecting sign-offs
- Reporting incidents and near-misses
- Tracking safety meeting attendance
- Sharing safety documents with authorized colleagues
- Exporting documentation for professional records
2. Prohibited Conduct
You agree NOT to use the App to:
Misuse of Data and Features
- Enter intentionally false, misleading, or fabricated data into hazard assessments, incident reports, or other safety documents
- Falsify, backdate, or fabricate safety documentation or sign-offs
- Sign off on behalf of another person without authorization
- Create fraudulent records for insurance, regulatory, or legal purposes
Misuse of Sharing Features
- Share safety documents with unauthorized persons
- Use sharing features to distribute proprietary or confidential employer information without authorization
- Spam other users with unsolicited sharing invitations
- Create share links for purposes unrelated to legitimate construction or safety-documentation activities
Harmful Behavior
- Harass, intimidate, or threaten other users
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Use another user's account without their authorization
- Attempt to access other users' data without proper sharing authorization
- Upload or share content that is offensive, defamatory, or illegal
Technical Misuse
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems, databases, or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or servers
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to interact with the App
- Circumvent security measures, access controls, or rate limits
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
3. Data Accuracy Responsibility
You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter into the App. This includes:
- Hazard assessments: FLHA and JHA entries should reflect actual site conditions and controls at the time of the assessment
- Sign-offs: Only people who actually participated should be recorded as signing
- Incident reports: Reports should be accurate, complete, and entered promptly
Inaccurate data entered into the App may pose risks to you and others. SteelSight Systems is not responsible for errors resulting from inaccurate user-provided data.
4. Shared Content Obligations
When sharing content (safety documents) with other users:
- Share only with individuals who have a legitimate professional need for the information
- Do not share proprietary employer information without proper authorization
- Understand that shared data may be retained by recipients even if you later revoke access
- Ensure shared documentation accurately reflects the work it describes
- Respect the confidentiality of shared content you receive from other users
5. Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account:
- Use a strong, unique password for your SteelSafe account
- Do not share your account credentials with others
- Enable biometric authentication if available on your device
- Notify us immediately at info@steelsightsystems.ca if you suspect unauthorized access to your account
- Sign out of the App on shared or public devices
6. Intellectual Property
When using the App:
- Do not upload or share content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others
- Do not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the App's content (data schemas, sample data, UI designs)
- Respect third-party trademarks in any information you enter
7. Compliance with Laws
You agree to use the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
- Occupational health and safety laws (federal, provincial/state, local)
- Privacy and data protection laws
- Export control regulations
- Industry-specific regulations and standards
8. Reporting Violations
If you become aware of any violation of this Policy, please report it to:

- Subject line: "Acceptable Use Policy Violation"
Include as much detail as possible, including the nature of the violation and any relevant user information. Reports will be handled confidentially to the extent possible.
9. Enforcement and Consequences
Violations of this Policy may result in, at our sole discretion:
- Warning: A notice of the violation and a request to cease the prohibited conduct
- Temporary suspension: Restriction of access to some or all App features
- Permanent termination: Deletion of your account and revocation of your license
- Legal action: Pursuit of legal remedies for violations that cause harm
We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of enforcement actions, but reserve the right to act immediately without notice in cases involving safety risks, security threats, or illegal activity.
Repeated or severe violations may result in immediate termination without prior warning.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the App or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
